Update To Facebook Pages

 

Facebook today announced that they are making some updates to Facebook Pages. They can now include a cover page, larger story sizes and provide better tools to manage the Page.

Google has now released Google+ to everyone. No more “I can get you an invite”  it’s open season. 

In a blog posted by Vic Gundotra, Senior Vice President of Engineering he revealed it had been released and would include new features.

iTunes Match and now Facebook music service

Following on from the previous post on iTunes Match service, CNBC have reported today that Facebook is planning a music service of its own! and intends to unveil the details at the F8 developers conference.

Suggestions are that this is more likely to be a system integrating with other music services such as Spotify and MOG. You would think that Facebook with have enough work cut out fighting Google and LinkedIn over the social media space that is currently available. There were rumours back in July that Facebook were planning a service and it might be called ‘Vibes’ but that was mostly speculation. According to sources it will allow users to listen to music from within Facebook and not be hosting or streaming music itself but allowing partners to deal with content provision.

Facebook.com Closing down on 15th March 2012


PALO ALTO, CA –Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook will be shut down in March of 2012. Managing the site has become too stressful.

“Facebook has gotten out of control,” said Zuckerberg in a press conference outside his Palo Alto office, “and the stress of managing this company has ruined my life. I need to put an end to all the madness.”

Incredible Growth of Google + (Plus)

Since an image is worth 1000 words, here is a graph done by Leon Håland analyzing the growth of Google+. It took only 24 days for Google+ to reach 20 million users, while it took over three years to reach that number for Facebook and Twitter. Considering that the service is still open only by invitation and that brands or news organisations are not yet invited, this sounds like a huge achievement.
