Blackberry decides to hit the town with the new London Smartphone

You would think that Blackberry with all it s negative news and share price ups and downs, sorry downs and downs, would want to distance themselves from the London riots. Not quite apparently, they have decided to get rid of the riots and just associate themselves with London. Perhaps they have realised the marketing potential in a certain demographic and will also be releasing the “Manchester” and “Liverpool” models!!

According to sources the new Blackberry smartphone will be called the London and will run the BBX operating system.  This phone will be produced for mid 2012 and the Blackberry Colt (QNX) reported on in an earlier blog will now not see the light of day.

Now this could all be a hoax and it certainly has the feel of one, although the information is being reported in various blogs, some of which are usually a very reliable source. If the rumours are to be believed then the phone will have the following specification:-

Touchscreen

1.5GHz Dual-core CPU

1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage

2MP Camera for Video Calling

8MP Camera for photography

All this fitting nicely into a case slimmer than the iPhone. Sounds too good to be true doesn’t it ?
