Facebook.com Closing down on 15th March 2012

PALO ALTO, CA –Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook will be shut down in March of 2012. Managing the site has become too stressful.

“Facebook has gotten out of control,” said Zuckerberg in a press conference outside his Palo Alto office, “and the stress of managing this company has ruined my life. I need to put an end to all the madness.”

Zuckerberg went on to explain that starting March 15th of next year, users will no longer be able to access their Facebook accounts.  That gives users (and Facebook addicts) a year to adjust to life without Facebook.

“After March 15th, 2012 the whole website shuts down,” said Avrat Humarthi, Vice President of Technical Affairs at Facebook. “So if you ever want to see your pictures again, I recommend you take them off the internet. You won’t be able to get them back after Facebook goes out of business.”

Zuckerberg said the decision to shut down Facebook was difficult, but that he does not think people will be upset.

“I personally don’t think it’s a big deal,” he said in a private phone interview. “And to be honest, I think it’s for the better. Without Facebook, people will have to go outside and make real friends. That’s always a good thing.”

Some Facebook users were furious upon hearing the shocking news.

“What am I going to do without Facebook?” said Denise Bradshaw, a high school student from Indiana. “My life revolves around it. I’m on Facebook at least 10 hours a day. Now what am I going to do with all that free time?”

However, parents across the country have been experiencing a long anticipated sense of relief.

“I’m glad the Facebook nightmare is over,” said Jon Guttari, a single parent from Detroit. “Now my teenager’s face won’t be glued to a computer screen all day. Maybe I can even have a conversation with her.

Those in the financial industry are criticizing Zuckerberg for walking away from a multibillion dollar franchise. Facebook is currently ranked as one of the wealthiest businesses in the world, with economists estimating its value at around 7.9 billion.

But Zuckerberg remains unruffled by these accusations. He said he will stand by his decision to give Facebook the axe.

“I don’t care about the money,” said Zuckerberg. “I just want my old life back.”

The Facebook Corporation suggests that users remove all of their personal information from the website before March 15th, 2012. After that date, all photos, notes, links, and videos will be permanently erased.

well trolling or not, for some of us FB is the only way to keep in contact with people from the other side of the world, who we have met in real life or just met them online, it is not about us being unsocial in real life it is about who we are looking for to be friends with. And the reason of the “shut down” is pure BS those who spend 10 hour in FB they will find another social network to spend 10 hours in. It is not the Social Media you need to blame for kids spending too much time on the internet, it’s your parenting, and a person’s own decisions. Now if this is true, the creator can always retire and leave the FB to someone else, there is no need to play good Samaritan and “save” the kids, pfff

Don’t you see, that this is a buy off…..
Who is is biggest on of the largest company related to commutations at the moment….
Yes… Google… It dominates the internet , Hotmail,, live business engine, phone services with its operating system of the mobile world… and now… Google +…… To be the dominating FB style social engine in the world you must eliminate the one who started it and still drives it.. Yes this is a buy out…. Mark , enjoy the money your set for life……. Go live in a tropical paradise like Hawaii, Costa Rica, or Aruba……

    • Hoopy Frood

1.) This is fake. Thus, Google is not buying FB. Besides, if they were going to bu them out, why would they bring out Google+ instead of just co-opting the existing FB code and userbase?
      2.) Microsoft owns Hotmail.
3.) Google actually encourages competition, rather than trying to eliminate it.

Again, though, this is all based on a false story. Facts: they are your firends.

      • ohyeah

Eehehh! Of course not… and Facebook will have its IPO in a very near future. Of course it won’t close or sell it right after that! Doh!

  • Davjohn

He’s not going to save Facebook, and he shouldn’t. It’s an out of control data mining site. Why does any app need access to my name, profile picture, gender, networks, user ID, list of friends, and any other information I’ve shared with everyone, the right to send me email, access to my news feeds, access my data when I’m not using the application, and access my likes, music, tv, movies, books, quotes, current city and Facebook status. For what possible purpose would any app need this information? And, just as importantly, why is it that Facebook refuses to address this question? Facebook has gone beyond a social networking site and become a lure to make money for the chosen few. Shut it down.

    • ximi

You do realize that you are asked permission, no? If you feel an app is asking for too much information don’t use it, it’s fairly easy.

Well if its true, Think how many personal relationships would be saved, people who are really fickle get on facebook and their often stable relationships end, they flirt with people worldwide arrange meetings with opposite/same sex people and next you know bang, they pack their emotional bags and ditch the faithful partners, shut it down and save domestic bliss.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_PO7OZK3PZZ6CVBN5LGXD37N2KI Eric

Honestly i think its pretty stupid shutting it down. Its a franchise that makes someone a fortune why close it down.Everyone has stress i have it everyday thats all part of life and being human. Many of us have relatives and even friends that they speak too on facebook on a daily basis that is being taken away from them.I get what Mark is saying you should go out into the world more and meet more people. But what if you dont like the world the way world is and don’t like going out their because of it.What about such people that when you walk out the front door others snub you off like a peice a garbage on the street.Well im one of them that dont like getting out their too much just because of that.Soi guess ill be the first to say what mark said was kind of ignorant toward people such as myself. But hell at least there is myspace still.

  • Pj

Facebook will never go away unfortunately… this article is a fraud and so are all the other copies of it on FB and the net.

I think this is totally bogus. Why would Facebook be building another data center building in Prineville, Oregon if they were closing it down in March. They just announced the new center building being built in September because of the increase of users for Facebook. Would you believe it has over doubled in users since 2009 when the plans for the new data center was announced to be built in Prineville, Oregon. How do I know this about the center? Because it is located 40 miles from where I live.

Mark… the simple answer is to sell it. Take your money and move on to do whatever you want. I am confident that competitors or those who want what you have will step up to make offers. You could even put the thing up for sale and finance part of it for them. Then you can get a big lump sum of cash at closing and get a payment stream for some time to come.

The next best answer is to turn over control to someone else and go away to do what you want.

I would be happy to write you a check, as long as you don’t try to cash it until I can find a way to add a lot more zeros to my bank balance 😀
